ZMD was formed in 1981. Our first 15 years were spent in the same location in Paramount, CA, where for built the finest and most advanced Thermoforming Machines.

We eventually outgrew the original facility and were forced to reject orders for lack of space. We figured it was time to move to a new and larger facility.

In July of 1996, ZMD International was please to announce the acquisition of a new 46,000 square foot facility in Long Beach, CA. The building is located at 600 West 15 th Street and was purchased outright for manufacturing stare of the art vacuum forming equipment.

The new plant was a much-needed asset to help us achieve the tremendous growth that we have see in the past years. This beautiful industrial facility more than tripled the former manufacturing floor. The increases of orders of large machines and complete manufacturing lines made the expanded manufacturing space necessary. Our Turn-Key Projects used up lots of floor space. We now can set up complete manufacturing facilities for entire factories.

Z.M.D. International, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of thermoforming and vacuum forming for the U.S. and for the world. In the USA, major companies own our machines including Northrop Corp., McDonnell Douglas, GE, Bayer, Frigidaire etc, General Motors, Textron. We have delivered machines to over 36 countries including England, Ireland, Spain, Austria, Canada, Israel, New-Zealand, Australia, Korea, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, China etc.

ZMD takes pride in offering a wide range of standard vacuum forming machines but our major asset is our capability and flexibility to provide custom made vacuum forming machines to meet any of our customers specifications and needs. We have provided many Turn Key Operation systems where all the customer needs to do is to push a button to make parts. If the customer is capable to define his needs, ZMD is capable to build the entire system, including machine, molds, plastics and the process to form high quality products. All ZMD machines are equipped with many unique standard systems that are only offered as options by our competitors, to make them the most advanced in the industry.

ZMD takes pride as well to announce that our machines are CE MARK certified, to be sold to the European community.

The increased production floor allows us to dramatically increase the production rate and reduce delivery time. We are manufacturing standard equipment as well as custom machine to meet customer’s requirements. Customers that purchase standard equipment will receive a high quality product at a very attractive price. By planning our production closely, we have decreased cost, and pass the savings on to the end user. Our unique production techniques enable us to manufacture the most complicated custom machine at an unbeaten price and delivery time. ZMD is committed to serving its customer needs, and will remain the quick reacting supplier that it has been known as in the past.

ZMD builds more single and double station machines than many of our other competitors combined. ZMD is a pioneer in the thermoforming technology, the first to introduce many innovation products, years ahead of our competitors. With a vision of offering the thermoforming industry a better machine, ZMD emphasized on introducing safer, easier and better controls to make the machine operations the easiest in the industry. ZMD was the first company to introduce a vacuum forming machine that was fully controlled by a PC Computer; the first company to introduce a fully adjustable clamping frame in 4 directions, using no tools or external parts; the only one that is offering automatic traveling heaters as a function of material sag, the first company to introduce a vacuum forming machine fully operated by a robot, including loading, unloading, trimming and stacking; the first company to introduce a diagnostic capability over the phone, via a modem; and recently a development of a dedicated machine for the In Mold Decoration Applications (IMD) industry. Despite these facts, we are committed to keep investing in R&D and the development of new machines and systems. The new building allows us to continue with our efforts, and to have a complete showroom with working models and demonstrators.

There are many new developments that we are successfully implementing, including sheet temperature control, heaters temperature PID loop control, In Mold Decoration System, and other process advances that will keep ZMD vacuum forming equipment well ahead of competition.
